The concept for Croquet was born in the mind of Douglas Englebart 65 years ago. During the "Mother of all Demos", he demonstrated foundational technology including the mouse, the GUI, the word processor, video conferencing, and yes - the internet. But one core technology didn't make it into today's OS - real time collaboration.

Three decades ago David Smith and Alan Kay - the inventor of object-oriented programming and early mentor to Steve Jobs - began work on this important technology. They had long viewed today's computational systems are just scratching the surface of what could be done. The two envisioned an extensible system for collaborative computing. Croquet is that solution.

For developers, Croquet is an essential tool for building web-based 3D games and experiences. It removes complex back-end client/server code and vastly reduces network latency, making experiences extensible and scalable. This cloud-based OS is wrapped in Java, making it easy for standard web developers to deploy.

For brands, Croquet enables custom 3D world's on their own website. Its Open, Cross-Platform, Own-able, and Web-Based. This frees brands from the walled gardens (eg Roblox, Meta, Fortnite) and enables them to own their look, destination, and transactions.
